The Bus rides again! After sitting for 6 months after she sprung a leak we were finally able to make it to the bay area to assess the damage and bring her down to San Diego. I was shocked when she started up without a jump after not being started for 6 months. This battery is a trooper! I was able to find the leak quickly. It was gas! Luckily I was able to replace a small section of gas line and we were back in business! It felt great to drive her around the bay again. So on Sunday May 12th we loaded her up and began the long drive to SoCal. I am happy to say we made it safely and didn’t have any issues.
My buddy Kris also helped out hugely by cutting a piece to go under the rear bench. This goes a long way in hiding the seat brackets and will allow us to install some 6x9’s. The Bus’ story can begin to be written again!

Moving day! The bus really helped out. We fit more in the bus than in the truck!

Great Progress
Finally put some time into the Bus yesterday and installed some parts we’ve had ready for a long time.
- Installed the last door panel on the sliding door so now all the door panels match. It really looks great and completes the feel of the interior.
- Replaced a busted visor clip so now the visor won’t bounce around.
- Installed the engine seal that wraps around the engine bay and keeps out exhaust from entering. It was easier than I thought and glad I did it myself.
Afterwards the Bus ran like a dream! Used it to get some heavy stones to build the retaining wall in the backyard and it handled the weight well.
Next we plan to:
- Change the fuel lines since they aren’t looking the best.
- Find new covers for the back bench, we’re still torn on which direction to take the upholstery in.
- Add a jump seat behind the drivers seat.
- Add carpet or hard wood floor, still torn on this too.
A great day for the bus! Hoping to be ready for camping and cruising by summer time!

The warmer than usual weather here in the Bay Area prompted a run to the new dog park down the street from our house. Somehow we fall in love with the bus all over again every time we ride in it. The big pup loves it too! He hangs out on the rear deck.

Tomorrow we’ll be taking the bus to a local Metalfest/canned food drive. We plan on selling some of our art out of bus! We really taking on this hippy thing full bore…will provide pics! Can’t wait to hear some reactions to the bus.
